Hey there Sales Spartan, today I'm opening up about my personal journey from struggle to dominance in the world of sales.
No one is born a salesperson, nor was I…yet we can all become great sales professionals.
The journey to becoming unstoppable at sales can be challenging based on your beliefs about sales. I held several beliefs that were not serving my sales success.
I chose to handle them, and not be handled by them. I want you to know that if I can conquer these limiting beliefs, so can you.
The fear of rejection…that dreaded "no." It paralyzed me at the beginning. I was afraid of hearing that two-letter word, and it held me back from calling, prospecting, and closing with certainty.
But then I realized something crucial – every "no" brought me one step closer to a "yes." It was a numbers game, and I was determined to play it. Fear? It became my fuel. Get through "no" to get to "yes"!
Doubt was my constant companion. I questioned myself, my product knowledge, and my ability to close deals. But I discovered that doubt was just a story I was telling myself.
So, I rewrote that story. I focused on my strengths, my passion, and my dedication to my clients. Doubt didn't stand a chance against my newfound self-belief.
Commitment was a tricky one. Sometimes, I'd start strong but lose steam along the way. I learned that commitment wasn't about starting; it was about finishing.
I committed to being persistent, consistent, and unwavering in my pursuit of success. Once I made that commitment, there was no turning back.
I wasn't born a sales superstar, far from it. I lacked certain skills, but I didn't let that deter me. I invested in myself – in books, courses, and mentors.
I practiced my pitch until it was second nature. I worked on my communication skills and learned the art of active listening. Skills can be developed, and I was on a mission to develop them all.
Uncertainty about the future haunted me. What if I didn’t make target? What if I failed to earn commission? What if my prospects changed their minds? But here's the thing – while no one can predict the future … I can control my activity and could predict my commission future based on my activity.
Uncertainty is a part of business and life. I learned to embrace it, to adapt and produce. I became activity focused, to do whatever it takes to eliminate the uncertainty.
I had these limiting beliefs, just like you might have now. But I made the decision to confront them head-on, to turn fear into fuel, doubt into determination, commitment into consistency, skill gaps into strengths, and uncertainty into adaptability.
You can do it too. Your journey to boosting your income begins with conquering these beliefs.
